This is Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church

Metropolitan spiritual mission is based on the strong inherent principles that have remained steadfast since the church's founding. This church, ever vigilant in responding to the needs of its congregation and surrounding communities, continues to meet the challenges and changes that affect humankind. Metropolitan is the ancestral home to AMEs, who are proud of this great legacy and heritage. Metropolitan appreciates that one of its roles is to be in the forefront of empowering and strengthening its membership and society as a whole to grow spiritually and economically that they might be effective change agents for God.

Metropolitan serves and nurtures its members and the community to the honor of God. It is Metropolitan's objective to provide and create an environment that encourages worshippers to witness for Christ through mission work and outreach. Metropolitan A.M.E. Church continuously strives to be a force for social justice in the church and throughout the local and global communities.


The African Methodist Episcopal Church

The African Methodist Episcopal Church has a unique and glorious history. It was unique in that it is the first major religious denomination in the Western World that had its origin over sociological and theological beliefs and differences. It rejected the negative theological interpretations which rendered persons of African descent second class citizens. Theirs was a theological declaration that God is God all the time and for every body. The church was born in protest against slavery—against dehumanization of African people, brought to the American continent as labor. Read more…
